Down to my roots

“I carry you inside
All the way down to my roots
And no matter how much I grow, you will be here
Even if I hide behind mountains and find cane fields,
There’s no way, my moonbeam, that you go away” – Natalia Lafourcade

I love finding new meanings in the lyrics of songs. It’s part of my self-compassion practice to then dedicate them to the most vulnerable, young parts within me.

What if instead of pushing away the parts of us we dislike or find weak, too much or too little… we could embrace them with love and allow them to be at the roots of who we are, our foundation, our power.

For me, this is what this song is about and I dedicate it especially to that part of me that feels I need to control my expression, choose the right words, the right tone, the right time, in order to be safe. And if these lyrics resonate, then they are also for you.
